All the arguments which Driesch has arrayed so ingeniously for the existence of a pure science show indeed that there are principles independent of our experience but fail to explain why this is the case. The reasons are completely revealed by the conception presented above. It is very often asserted by philosophers, and sometimes also by physicists, that, for instance, non-Euclidean geometry and the Einstein measurement of time are mathematical fictions, whereas Euclidean geometry and absolute time are, in the very nature of things, established truths.
