Unlike the primary and secondary areas of expertise, for which ﬂag oﬃcers are frequently required to have developed deep knowledge of just two occupational areas of expertise during their pre-ﬂag careers, most ﬂag oﬃcers are expected to have developed a wide array of leadership, management, and enterprise expertise during their pre-ﬂag careers.
